vSet & planter meter rebuild and calibration

Every meter runs the test stand before it goes back on your planter. It only comes apart if the stand says it needs to, or you ask us to.

$41an acre

What Precision Planting's own 5-year study lost going from 99.5% singulation down to 95%. About 2.1 bushels an acre for every point.

What happens to your meters

  • Tagged by row, so each one goes back where it came from
  • Taken apart, cleaned and inspected when it needs it
  • Worn parts replaced, including vSet and SpeedTube wear and upgrade parts
  • Every one runs our Precision Planting MeterMax test stand before it goes back on

What wears out

Vacuum meters
Disks, singulators and vacuum seals.
Finger meters
Fingers, springs, backing plates, belts and brushes.
New seed
A new seed size, shape, treatment or lubricant can change how a meter performs, even if nothing's worn.

Common questions

How often should planter meters be calibrated?

Precision Planting says to test them every year. One of its dealers publishes a calibration schedule of 2 years or 250 row acres for vSet, and every year for finger meters. A stand test shows which rows need work, so you only pay for those.

How much does it cost to rebuild planter meters?

It's priced per meter and depends on whether it needs calibration only, a cleaning, or a full rebuild with wear parts. Call or text for this season's number. You'll have it before we start.

What meters do you work on?

vSet is most of what comes through this shop. The MeterMax stand handles most other meters too, on John Deere, Kinze, White, Case IH and Great Plains planters. Call and ask about yours.

How do I get my meters to you?

Bring them to the shop in Flat Rock, Monday through Friday, 8 to 5. Bring a bag of the seed you plan to plant if you can. Too far or too busy? Call and we'll figure it out.

How long does it take?

Fastest right after harvest. The bench books solid by late winter, so don't wait until April.
